@matigo Pretty much. It's easy to forget just how slow it is to read a operating system install from a USB drive. Also, said USB drive is not exactly of the fastest caliber, not even when it was new.

@matigo I know what you mean. Sometimes I check the spam and get amazed over the horrible, atrocious level of crap that actually make it out of someone's email program. I mean, sure, they clearly aim for the people who don't know better, but I still can't see how they manage to trick anyone with their "craft".
It took some fiddling in OpenFirmware, but it looks like I have the PowerBook booting off of the USB drive now. Time to play the waiting game.
USB 2.0 sure isn't fast when you need to push around multiple gigabytes of crud. 😑
