Lots of ignorance that keeps living on, years later, I believe. Remember how that was the selling point for Android at one point? “It’s open”, they lied.

Some parts are certainly open, but that does not a complete system make. Specially when you want the google-specific parts.

But I have stopped correcting people who still let this fallacy fly around. I’m done with platform wars and I have no intent on being the corrector or errors all the time. I’ve learnt my lesson.

But, you know, it’s still better because it’s not Apple and it’s OPEN!

As a parent, I completely and fully agree with this!

Good stuff! As long as it’s not something more exotic, all is well. 👍

That things got really screwy, really fast. Pretty sure it’s been bad for as long as humans have walked the planet, but I’ll be kind and just make note of the recent history.

You should see me talk about the Game Boy! 😉

Can’t say I blame you on that. World has taken an odd turn the last 20 or so years.

I don’t think there was any serious attempts made at porting webOS over to the Playbook, but I might have missed it.

Originally webOS was only on the Palm smartphones called Prē and Pixi, later after HP bought Palm also on a short lived line of tablets called the HP Touchpad. Once the idiot CEO of HP at the time; Léo Apotheker was done destroying everything the team at Palm created, HP sold off webOS to LG, which basically only put it on their TVs… I know, the logic is amazing. But before they sold it off, HP at least made a large part of webOS open source, and the interesting project called LuneOS started porting the system to other hardware. The usual suspects of Nexus 4 and Nexus 7 devices were supported from day one, if I remember correctly.

After LG being LG and couldn’t figure out what to do with webOS, they put it all up as open source (again?), but little has come from that yet that I know of.

Right now, the best way to experience webOS is still on the old Prē 2 or Prē 3, or on the HP Touchpad. Prices are all over the place, and I have not been able to find a HP Touchpad I’m willing to pay for.

Just let me know if you are wondering anything about this. Kind of a small passion of mine. 😁

That’s a very fair point. One should always observe the news for frequent breaks in playing, and in drinking of beer. 😁

Drink beer, cheer (silently due to sleeping son and Nozomi), and then play Tetris until next meeting starts?
