Ok, a way that the in-laws might permit me to work that won’t freak a normal human out. 😉

The nasty Vista install that this old thing was shipped with from factory. And you are quite right, I’m just prepping it for Linuxification.

Have Ubuntu server downloaded and ready to go, soon I hope. Can’t stand this bonkers system much longer.

Guess what kind of a thermostat the in-laws have? 🤣

Also; the feature is you can’t switch the darn voice off!!

OF COURSE the version I tried to use wasn’t compatible with Vista. Why would it be? 🙄

It was really bad, and it’s still bad. You know how every damn machine needs to talk in Japan? Well, in Sweden the equivalent is to make an annoying beeping noise you cannot switch off, and to have a frikkin’ blue LED indicate everything. 🤮

Ah! I remembered wrong. For some reason I thought SDHC only went up to 32GiB. In that case I most likely have a max of 64GiB I can stuff in there for extra storage. Which is nice.

Possible future surgery on the Kohjinsha mini-laptop:
Replace horribly annoying blue LED used to indicate power-on and sleep status.

And in a complete surprise, my 11 year old Kohjinsha mini-laptop can read my 64GiB microSD card.

Well, actually. It’s become increasingly popular, both for heating and for electricity generation. I’m not sure if it’s still around, but you used to get a government subsidy to install solar panels on your house.

But otherwise yes, I’m a bit weak towards the sunlight common I Japan. I learned that the hard way more than 10 years ago while fishing at the ocean.

Way more than I’m normally able. Working in a NOC some 32m under ground has it’s downsides. 😕
