Looks like the complete restore of the old 3GS has made it snappier™ and it no longer shuts down after taking a photo. I'll still heavily consider @ukhaiku's offer of an iPhone 5s though. I suspect it's only a matter of time before I really do need to move up to something newer.

I was starting to wonder why all the avatars looked a lot better, and in the case of some avatars; works. After some scrolling through the timeline, I see it's @matigo being a busy bee. Well done! ?
