I kind of need to get another play tablet with a more recent version of Android. My junk tablet stopped at the 4.4.4 it came with from factory.

No updates a problem with Android? Yeah, I'd have to agree with that, but it depends greatly on the manufacturer being irresponsible.

@kdfrawg I'll go hunting and see what comes up. Always good to have some more reading material. Specially so if it expands ones mind, and is printed on dead trees. :)

That's precisely what I thought, but one box set of Star Trek DVDs keeps being un-rippable, even with all the software updated to its latest available and compatible version. I had to give up on it for the time being.

Hopefully it'll be solved with a completely different optical drive, or maybe if I get an old PPC system I can use that for DVD-ripping purposes.

@kdfrawg Need to check that out, methinks.

That's about how I imagine the conversation went.

Gotcha'! Yea, VLC is the solution to all of those issues, it's when I try to rip some DVDs that things go south quickly unless the region is set to the same as said DVD. Have no idea how it manages to mess with the ripping, I just assumed it read the data stream from the disc, but apparently there is some other magic happening in the background.

Oh well, I might as well invest in a Blu-ray player with USB 3.0 connection and be able to rip in HD as well. A shame, as the SuperDrive is wonderfully compact.

Sounds like a great tool, specially for a developer… NOT!

Oddly enough, I have been known to do that too on occasion.

I'll attribute it to incompetency in the light of no other evidence that might suggest otherwise.

It's just a very well disguised Finn. They're experts at blending in, you know.
