@gtwilson Now there's a picture I won't be getting rid of easily…
@gtwilson If I remember correctly, Modula2 was the equivalent of shooting oneself in the head.
Sure, the same can be said about C, but you'd have to build the foot, the head, and the gun in order to be able to do so. ?
@jws Hm. That would be a good opportunity for me to actually learn some Python.
It's interesting when you look at the stuff going on in your own network. Right now I'm attempting to figure out what the heck is attempting to connect to eas.outlook.com, as I don't recall anyone here using any such service.
Oh right, I should get the SSH keys into the terminal app I have on my iPhone and my iPad. That way, I can hack away on my ~works page from anywhere!
Writing HTML by hand has a nice charm to it. It's slow and you get such delightful optimization. Unfortunately both my kids are here in the same room, making a ruckus. Makes it even slower to get a page together…
@matigo Nah, I'm sticking with the x86 machines for desktop hardware. Still love the old PPC-based laptops though, but not for their computational prowess.
I am tempted by the first generation Mac Pro given the low purchase price and reasonable upgradability. Apparently I can shove a (for me) nearly new dedicated graphics card into it, as well as upgrade to 64GiB of RAM and dual quad-core Xeon processors.
I wouldn't mind a bit of that multi-threading performance goodness combined with the massive amounts of RAM. ?
@gtwilson I think it was back in 2004-2005 somewhere that I last played a good deathmatch of any kind.

Quite interesting how far you can apparently upgrade the old-school Mac Pro. Now I just need to score a (better) full-time gig again and the investment will happen, mark my words!
