Completely agree!

I usually attribute it to arrogance and ignorance.

Ah, all the more reason for the buzzword to change. Can’t keep referencing a law, rather than some fuzzy, vaguely described concept, right?

Indeed. I guess they needed a new buzzword to yell at board meetings and “AI” sounded flashy enough, after “CLOUD” lots its appeal.

Totally. I’ve always taken care that things should work as well as possible, on machines as far back as possible. This has led me to not make a whole lot of overly complicated web pages over the years, and instead relies on tried and tested methods. One foot in the past, if you will.

So you look at it more as a “here is what you have to have to make this make sense”, and all the fluff afterwards is pure bonus material? I kind of like that definition.

I guess I just call it graceful degradation out of habit. As you pointed out, that might just be looking at it from the wrong angle.

Food for thought!

If it doesn’t degrade gracefully, it’s a fail in my book.

True enough. I just don’t think yours or my definition will be anywhere near what the Linux on the desktop diehards have been raving about for the last two decades. 🤣

Funny how running EMACS isn’t the only thing people want to do on a computer, right?

If I only had the power… it would be glorious to behold! Although I somewhat fear your inevitable decline in mental health.

You you just reminded me that I need to get mine a permanent place to live, as my writing station.
