Some applications actually have a purpose since they go above and beyond what Apple built into macOS or iOS, but the vast majority just take up space and try to swindle unknowing people out of money. Not to mention that the applications are often some of the ugliest I've seen.
@matigo Oh hey, I remember that. Been a couple of years since I was there, and the weather was pretty miserable at the time. But it was quite nice despite all that.
Boggles the mind how many applications are for sale out there, which basically replicate one or several already available system functions. Sometimes they do it differently, sometimes they repackage the basic functionality in a different UI. And yes, this is on macOS.
@jextxadore This! This is exactly what I’ve been complaining about for years! Web pages to bloated it makes your head spin.
@matigo Was that the feature to auto-mute me when I go on one of my semi-famous rambling sprees and fill up people's timelines? 😝
@matigo That's what I'm aiming for when I relaunch my website. Scaled back, no scripting bullshit, just a very readable page with embedded media like pictures mostly, and sometimes a video.
Trying to take the web back a bit, not going full web-luddite, but darn close to it.
