Well, yeah, pretty much. It seems like it's a banal norm that you need to purchase a new doodad every year or two, while the one you have is actually fully functional. Dunno, guess I'm just not consumerist enough to see why we need to keep depleting what resources we have available on this rock we call home.

The more I read around online, the more I realize I'm an edge case.

I'll add it to my list of things to try. Perhaps with a newer model Pi.

That sounds very interesting! I'm taking the lazy path with Raspbian for now, and hopefully I can actually get everything setup as I want before I lose my mind. Then I can get on with actually building my tools.

Getting a BSD machine is definitely something I need to look into as well.

Going all bleeding edge now. I mean, I'm just going to use this Pi for my own tools, so I figure it doesn't matter much.

@height8 Those are the best kind of jazz bands!

☕ and a terminal with an SSH session to the Raspberry Pi. Again. Decided to nuke from orbit and set stuff up "right" and see if I can avoid the pitfalls of installing unnecessary cruft.

22:00 local time and some neighbor thinks it's a great time to drill in the walls…

@height8 The 1990s TV-series thingy they made wasn't quite as good though. Can't really recommend it.

@height8 Love that movie! I should read the book some time.
