@sumudu I have found a few that sort of do what I need and not anything else, but I have yet to really try them out to say for sure. One thing does seem to be missing from all the alternatives, though; OCR translation of pictures and PDFs. :/

@jextxadore I just like the portability. Even if I have to travel somewhere I can still keep a lot of my data with me without taking up much space. :)
@matigo Did you hear about the investor at Nintendo's annual investors meeting last year? He apparently "got upset" that they (Nintendo) were talking about "silly things like video games". Considering how it's their core business, it just makes me wonder how dropped behind a carriage many of these investors actually are.
I'm quite looking forward to building something completely useless with all the random pieces of electronics I've been accumulating over the last year or so.
Seeing external 2.5" drives in the 3TiB range now. As this is a year to upgrade the existing hard drives before they fail completely, that is a very welcome thing.
