@bazbt3 It's a habit people have from using Windows-based PCs for years. The base assumption is that you desperately need AV software To Be Safe™, which is only because the whole industry has been hammering it down the throats of people for a long time. Now it has finally backfired and the muggles don't know any better than demanding Extra Special Safety Software for everything.
The only good thing I see the whole thing is that people might finally be seeing their smartphones as something more than a phone, and perhaps treat it more like the pocket computer it is, with access to ones whole digital life. But as usual, I'm probably being overly optimistic about the whole thing.
It's sad that we even need to have this kind of software in order of feel safe on our modern devices. :(
