In recent years, no. It’s all the same uninspired style from the networks, no originality. Writing might be good, but I find it hard to get past the surface in this case. I tolerated Rick and Morty, because it’s just up the wall more often than not.

I really love the eye candy that comes with Japanese animation, although I’ll gladly admit that many series suffer from the Dragon Ball Syndrome, and having complicated plot lines for the sake of having complicated plot lines. Apparently people mistake complicated for depth? Anyways, animation is often times great, but writing suffers.

I did like ‘Your Name’ when I saw that a while back. Wonderful art, and quite good writing, specially considering what I normally have to suffer.
