Damnit, now I want to try that beer!

@japchap I have gone through season 1 of Discovery. My thoughts:

Discovery has a very good production value. Actors perform their roles admirably, interesting character development occurs in the relatively short time given. Details in sets and visuals are superb, wonderful makeup work for the aliens.

However…

While the timeline puts Discovery between Enterprise and The Original Series, the general feel and look makes it appear more advanced than after the last The Next Generation movie. I realize the balance is difficult at best, depicting a theoretical future when we already have amazing technology today. Minor complaint, really.

I take more issue with the story line as a whole, which doesn’t feel Star Trek, as much as it feels like generic sci-fi. Don’t get me wrong, there are aspects that are very Star Trek, but for the most part I just find it lacking in the exploration of the human condition.

It’s not bad, but I think one needs to adjust expectations before watching. I have hopes for the second season, specially as we will be seeing Captain Pike once more.

@japchap Totally with you. If I didn’t have my trusty coffee, I’d go for some nice Earl Grey too.

Depressing world, so I’ll just sit and watch some Star Trek: The Next Generation.

Very likely, yes. As with most things, banning isn’t the most optimal course of action.

Can’t really say that kicking out this garbage is a bad move, though. At some point the line must be drawn, before things can get better. Now, if someone will actually step up to the plate and deliver proper well thought out counterpoints, that’s a good question.

His knuckle-dragging mouth breather followers can go suck a rotten egg or five. ?

Highly amused right now. Apparently, that Infowars asshole has gotten himself banned from every larger social media and online media aggregator, including fekkin' YouPorn! ?

Of course, Twitter still thinks he's an upstanding chap though. Crap like that just makes me want to drop twitter faster than quickly. Must convert my few contacts over there to something better.

Your point makes unpleasantly much sense. :/

Japanese 80s pop music blasting, this night is still young. Time for the next mug of coffee.

A Hell(o) Kitty shaped webcam, with the camera aperture in her nose? Sure, that doesn't freak me out at all.

I'm so tired of this constant over-complication in things that should be dead simple. Like user interfaces in mobile devices, which really should be bullet proof by now. Instead, they keep moving shit around, removing sensible features, and make me yearn for old devices with older versions of system and apps… progress?
