@height8 I also used gzip during my dd to get the size down from several gb to rasonable mb.

@height8 It's a dangerous situation. I try to balance it so I don't have too much, but also never to run out.

@height8 I believe the bs I used was 1m, but I'll have to double check to be sure. Not sure if there is a recommended bs for sd in general otherwise. I should dig into that. :D

Correct! Just plug it into my card reader and make the image on my MacBook Air.

I just made a clone of the current state of the SD card, so I can restore to the current point faster than having to reinstall all the stuff I fiddled with. :)

Neato! Found a way to make a compressed image of the SD card I use in the Pi. This is going swimmingly!

For education it's pretty gnarly. You can now from a single machine effectively run a whole network environment. When I think about that; mind = blown! :D
