I'm stubbornly on the original flavor of Notational Velocity, and the main thing I love about it is the speed and lack of features beyond being the best possible writing/noting/jotting application it can be. Sure, there is a built-in sync with Simplenote, but that's about it.

Blazingly fast search is a huge boon for me too, as I tend to go looking for old notes from time to time. So far, Notational Velocity makes this dirt simple, besting anything else I've bothered testing so far. Combined with the ability to use the whole thing without leaving the keyboard is quite lovely. I haven't even felt the need to look at any alternative for… years. :D

Another day, another bunch of bootleg Game Boy games being put up on online auction…

If you find them, let me know? So many a time I wish I had the knowledge and time to undertake such a project, because I think it's sorely needed. For some people it might be fine to hand over control to some company and just shove all the data in their direction, but it just doesn't sit well with me. I need to know I can trust the service and the company behind it. That's becoming increasingly difficult to to, given the current state of things with surveillance and snooping on nation-state level.

My hopes for people waking up and wanting to self-host more of their stuff will just be a dream, but at least I can run the things I mostly want to have away and tucked away in my own machine without too much issue. The rest, I guess I'll just have to live with.

Around these parts I fear Audis' the most. Of all the cars I see on a regular basis, all the Audi drivers stand out like a sore thumb when it comes to utterly and horribly suck at parking.

I'm also keeping my eyes open for the Yaris Verso variant, which is a nice replacement for the Suzuki Wagon R+ we currently have. But I'll settle for the regular Yaris as my commuter car. Still, can't beat my Alto for economy, with low tax, low insurance, and low fuel consumption. :D

I've said it before, and I'll say it again;
We're living in the cyberpunk future that so many predicted back in the 1980s, and I don't like a whole heck of a lot of it!

Sounds like my Pre 3, only it hasn't seen a software update since 2011. :/

I said that very thing several times at work today.

Unless the degree were to be directly relatable to the art of waiting tables, it's an odd requirement at best. More likely, whoever requires it is utterly clueless and possibly dangerous in their position.

@skematica I try. :)

No problem at all! I'd like to see a good Evernote alternative. Basically a self-hostable server, apps for each platform and a web interface to use in case there isn't a native app, and support for rich text formatting and including pictures. Would be killer to have!

Focused, and dedicated to those few features alone, and not aiming to add the kitchen sink.
